The Living Seas Freediving Course

Freediving

A different way to dive.

When you feel it deep in your bones.

When you feel the oceans beckon.

When you just want to jump in to explore a world on a single breath.

This course is your ticket.

Taking the Plunge

For the last 5,000 years, people have been rediscovering the ocean’s gifts over and over and pushing the limits on their own existence. Think of the fossil evidence of clams and shellfish found on the banks of villages in Egypt, and the famous Ama Pearl divers from Japan. And trust humankind to turn this into a sport with Luc Besson’s The Big Blue, tracing the true friendly rivalry between Jacques Mayol and world record holder at the time, Enzo Maiorca.

Mermaids and Mermen are REAL

Enter mermaid Jade Leutenegger, Founder and trainer at Freedive Singapore. She was a competitor for Team Canada at the World Freediving competition in 2004 (gold team) and 2006 (bronze team).

She will hold monthly freediving classes at Living Seas with an hour-long session, give a talk and Q&A session, plus a mini-workshop.

If you’re keen to try it out for real, the course will entail a classroom session at Living Seas and 2 pool sessions (one for Static Apnea and the other for Dynamic Apnea).

Investment: $400 per person (includes the use of mono or stereo fins)

Each session will take about 3 hours.

Watch this video to find out more about freediving from Jade herself.

Traveling LIGHT

Post course, we will be organizing weekly or fortnightly sessions for people to gather and practice.

Best of all, you only need your mask, snorkel, wetsuit and fins sans any bulky equipment!

If all life started in the water, to the water we shall return.
